Christmas Lunch

On Wednesday night as I was contemplating lunch I realized that I only had two days to do a Christmas-y lunch! Since Thursday was a field trip day I knew I had to do one for today if I wanted to get one in before Christmas. Time is flying by! Anyway, the snack is shown above, apples, carrots and a cookie.
And here is our Christmas themed lunch. I coped this idea from another lunch blogger and I so wish I could remember who it was so I could give them credit. I thought it was so clever to use the bread crusts that unfortunately end up being thrown out most of the time (yes I know I really SHOULD save them for bread crumbs...). Anyway, the stable is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and they have oranges and a cupcake on the side. They did not have a holiday party at school but both ended up having treats in class today so they were on a nice sugar high by the time they came home. The fact that today was the last day of school before break of course added to their excitement too! :) "See" you in about two and a half weeks!

Another Field trip lunch

The boys had a field trip today so here is our "disposable lunch". There is a creme cheese and jelly tortillas roll up in the foil wrapper, same apple slices and oranges, a juice box, some crackers and dried cranberries and two cookies. I feel badly about using all these plastic bags and a drink box. I will admit though it was nice not to have all the water bottles and lunch box stuff to clean today after school! :)

Pasta

Snack today was crackers, cheese and grapes.
For lunch there was pasta int the Thermos and veggies, salad dressing dip in the green container, blackberries and sugar coated almonds. S rejected the sugar coated almonds. I guess I'll have to give up on getting him to eat almonds if he doesn't even like them coated with sugar!!!
A and I juoined the boys for lunch tpoday and used our new blue dragonfly containers - woo hoo! My lunch is above. I had nuts, apples and cheese in the top container and veggies, turkey and crackers in the bottom.

A had blackberries, carrots and peanuts (he rejected the almonds too and insisted I pack peanuts instead) and pesto pasta in the bottom container.

Deli Skewers

E's snack on top - cheese sticks and orange slices. S's snack on the bottom - nuts and dried fruit and oranges.
Lunch was apple slices, half of a pumpkin pie granola bar, tortilla chips, cheese and deli meat skewers and some hummus (for S) or guacamole (for E). S has never been a fan of deli meat but I'm finding that he will eat it occasionally on a skewer.

Chicken Salad and Stuff

Cheese, cracker and pears for snack today. S left two of the crackers - but hey, he ate two!
A smorgasbord for lunch today! Pasta, oranges and chicken salad on top and beans, cheese crackers and a no bake oatmeal cookie below. I go back and forth about offering a lot of choices or just a few. I think a lot is good as long as they don't have to open many containers...

Looky what I won!

I won all these goodies from Eileen at the Sublurbs! You can see some of the cute little food picks in the beans in the post above. I'm thinking I might make the boxes mine instead of letting the boys use them.... :)

Thanks Eileen! Oh and check out Eileen's latest post of the time lapse photos of her family decorating the Christmas tree - too fun!

Pizza and cinnamon apple sause

E LOVES guacamole so today he had carrot sticks and some guacamole. S had hummus and carrot sticks (a lot this time..) Not much in the protein department but they are making up for it by eating a lot of veggies which they never eat enough of - nor do I for that matter...
Here is lunch. Yes, pizza again. The two pieces of pizza are packed this time with some very cinnamon-y apple sauce, half of a banana nut muffin and some grapes.

MTM- Christmas Breakfast

I had thought that making a Muffin Tin Monday breakfast on a Monday morning would not exactly work for me but I woke up eary so decided to give it a shot. Here is A's Christmas-y breakfast. Top row = "fairy" bread tree (toast with cream cheese and sprinkles, scrambled eggs, and very cinnamon-y apple sauce. Bottom row = grapes, a star shaped piece of ham and more eggs. We actually usually have cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning breakfast (when we are home at least) but I didn't make any. I figured the applesauce and fairy bread would suffice as something "treat like".

A liked his breakfast a lot. His big brothers liked it also since of course I had to make them a special breakfast too. They were ok with just eating it off a plate. :)

Chicken and Cheese Quesildillas

Cheese and grapes today for snack. They both said they really liked the hummus yesterday although they didn't eat much of it. They said that was because I only packed 5 carrots. When I said "what about the crackers?" they said that they didn't know they could dip the crackers.... ok..... Fine with me, I'll just pack more carrots next time!
Lunch today was chicken and cheese quesildillas and a little container of yogurt dip, cooked cauliflower, berries, orange and two chocolate kisses.

Hummus

Woo hoo - a new snack food! The boys both decided that they like hummus! Yippiee! Todays snack was hummus with carrots and crackers for dipping. I realize that cheese crackers were probably not the best choice to go with hummus but they love cheese cracker so I thought I'd get better buy in on the hummus...
This is S's lunch. On top he had some Wild Puffs cereal, fruit leather, grilled chicken and some BBQ sauce in the bear container. On the bottom he had blackberries and oranges. I love it when berries are on sale for $0.88 a pack in the winter! A had the same lunch except with egg salad instead of chicken.

We are back!

Between Thanksgiving break and travel, the boys haven't been to school in a while! But we are getting back into the swing of things today. Snack for E on the left is cheese sticks, apple and orange slices. S's snack on the right has peanuts, orange and apple slices. I like putting orange slices between apple slices - it keeps them form browning. :)

Lunch today was some bunny shaped mac and cheese (Thanks to my SIL whose kids rejected this brand of pasta). I added some green beans which the boys won't appreciate but will eat. :) In the side container, I packed apple slices, freeze dried pears and some cookies left over from our plane trip - gotta love new and exciting snacks!
This is a photo of one of the lunches packed for the airplane. Quesildillas, carrots, orange peppers and grapes.

Award: Kreative Blogger

Thanks Astrid for the award! Here are 7 things about me.

1. I used to work as a structural engineer before having kids. That was so long ago (7+ years)!
2. I watch almost no TV.
3. I love to organize and hate to clean so I have a clutter free but filthy house.
4. I picked my college based on which did NOT require a public speaking course.
5. I have Crohns disease.
6. For 7.5 years I ate a diet with no grains, sugar, lactose, potatoes or corn in an attempt to control my Crohns disease.
7. I am embarrassed to tell most people that I keep a blog about what I pack my kids for lunch each day. :)

I know I'm supposed to pass this on but.... I'm lazy... And everyone seems to have gotten it already...

PB&J

Here's today's snack of apple and cheese. Pretty boring...

For lunch the boys had the last of these single serving apple sauce packs, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, some wild puffs, an orange and a cookie.

No lunches next week due to Thanksgiving break!

A Very Orange Snack

Here is the very orange snack of oranges, cheddar and cheese crackers.
Lunch today was an egg salad bagel (E) or PB&J bagel (S), some carrot and pepper sticks, apple sauce, cookie, mini corn and pumpkin muffins and some pear.
A and I joined the boys for lunch today. This is A's lunch of creme cheese and jelly bagel, carrot sticks, pumpkin muffin, peanuts and orange.

And finally here is my lunch of yogurt, pear, 2 corn muffins and some carrots.

Turkey Sandwich

Snack today was apple slices, cheese and crackers. I volunteering in S's class this morning and got to see snack time. I was disappointed to see that MANY kids had candy or cookies or pudding cups for a snack. I was actually mostly surprised because S has never asked me to give him such things. Maybe he doesn't notice what the other kids are eating? Or maybe he just knows I'd probably say no.... :) I have seen E's class eat snack and they seem to bring healthier foods. E's teacher talks about healthy eating more than S's. In fact, S's teacher has candy all over her classroom and occasionally uses it as rewards. I think the teacher's attitude makes a difference.

For lunch the boys had a "turkey" sandwich (actually creme cheese and jelly), mango and some nutty coffee cake.

Turkey and Maccaroni and cheese

Snack today was oranges, cheese and dried apricots.
For lunch the boys had some macaroni and cheese, apple cobbler, turkey with BBQ sauce in the green container and some mango.

Dinosaur sandwich

Snack today was oranges, dried apricots and some nuts and raisins.
For lunch the boys had dinosaur shaped sandwiches, grapes, veggies with dressing for dip and some freeze dried fruit (S especially loves this stuff)
A and I had a lunch play date. A had two little oranges (he ate FIVE of these yesterday for lunch!), two cheese sticks, almonds, crackers and some dried apricots. This ended up being too much food for him but it worked out since he shared with his friend.
I had soup, apple slices, some nuts and dried apricot and some leftover pizza.
